Leather Care & Repair
LEATHER CARE
A good protector will help resist the effects of daily soiling and should be applied regularly. We recommend using the Leather Cleaner by Leather Honey. Always test any cleaner on an inconspicuous spot before treating the entire item, and always follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Leather conditioners are good to help lubricate leather and replenish its suppleness. We recommend you use these only occasionally. We have found the Leather Honey Leather Conditioner, Best Since 1968 (Half-Pint, 8 oz) to be the best product for our leathers. Again, always be sure to test on an inconspicuous spot before treating the entire product and follow manufacturer’s instructions. Please be careful of some leather conditioning/water proofing agents as they can have harsh chemicals that react differently and may leave marks that ruin the product. Therefore, please test any new agent on an inconspicuous spot first.
If your leather product gets wet, please let it dry slowly and naturally. Speed drying can alter the leather’s chemical structure and change its soft and subtle feel. If the leather gets dirty or has water marks, we recommend using a damp cloth and massaging in circular motions – do not rub. Avoid using soap or vinegar remedies to clean with, as these can cause permanent damage to the leather.
LEATHER REPAIR
The leather we use is all organic material and vegetable tanned so it will develop a beautiful patina over time. Over time the use of the leather goods will most likely create scratches and spots from normal use. This patina will develop over the journey that you take and will truly make it unique and your own. We do have a tip that will help scratches and marks to blend into the the overall piece.
Tip: With hands that have been washed locate the scratch and using your natural oils from your hand bend and work the area where the scratch or mark is. We suggest doing this often as overtime the oils of your hands will work with the natural oils and natural dyes of the leather to blend together.
